Building Globally Inclusive Worlds through Game Culturalization. With over 30 years of experience in digital media as a geographer and culturalization strategist, and nearly 29 years in games, Kate Edwards has been involved in the creation of many games, including titles such as: Halo, Fable, Age of Empires, Mass Effect, Call of Duty, Tomb Raider, and many others. She has witnessed creative teams struggle with a wide variety of issues, such as cultural appropriation, geopolitics, and human representation (collectively known as "culturalization" issues) that are often overlooked during the game's creation and negatively affected the game's ability to be viable across all possible markets. Kate will provide a quick overview of culturalization and deliver a case study that demonstrates the complexities that come with striving to build globally inclusive worlds while maximizing the global reach of creative content.

Market Adoption Insights - Discovering Africa: Tapping into the continent’s $5.6 trillion growth opportunity. It already has 8 of the fastest growing economies in the world and, according to McKinsey, the continent offers a $5.6 trillion consumer and business spend opportunity. However, despite accounting for 17% of the world's population, Africa only accounts for 3% of today’s global GDP, which demonstrates a gap in tapping into the continent's development potential. This keynote talk will share the core considerations, opportunities and challenges for expansion into Africa and lessons learned from global enterprises maximizing growth adoption in this grand magnificent continent.
